Describe Board of Psychology
Members, demographics, how they are elected, & length of term
- 7 members
- 5 are licensed psychologists
- 2 are non professional but must be Fl citizens
- one must be over age 60
- terms are 4 years & members nominated by Governor and confirmed by the Senate
List criteria for Licensure in Florida, including how long an applicant has to complete their application.

- 2 years or 4000 hours of supervised practice
- Pass the EPPP & FL Laws and Rules Exam
- $500 fee (250 for school psych)
- Applicant has have 24 months to complete application or must re-apply

Criterion & Limitations of Provisional Licensure
- A provisional licensee must work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist until the
provisional licensee is in receipt of a license or a letter from the department stating that he or she is licensed as a psychologist. - $250 fee

a) Attempting to obtain a license through bribery, fraud, or board error
b) if you have a License that was revoked or suspended anywhere else
c) Having been convicted of crime related to profession (including a plea of nolo contendere)

e) Practicing or Advertising under a name other than one’s own

o) Failing to respond within 30 days to a written communication from the department
concerning any investigation
p) Being unable to practice the profession for which he or she is licensed under this chapter
with reasonable skill or competence as a result of any mental or physical condition or by reason of illness or substance abuse (must prove recovered)
q) experimental treatment without informed consent
r) Failing to meet the minimum standards of performance in professional activities when
measured against generally prevailing peer performance, including the undertaking of activities for which the licensee is not qualified by training or experience

s) delegating Professional responsibilities to unqualified person
t) Violating a Professional egulatory rules, or of the profession or a lawful order of the department previously entered in a disciplinary hearing
u) failing to maintain confidentiality (exceptions as specified)

research and which identify or damage research subjects or clients

Engaging a client in sexually explicit verbal or physical behavior is considered Sexual Misconduct EXCEPT :
Sexual intimacies with a present or former client regardless of how much time has passed may also be considered as sexual misconduct.
When
(a) Such behavior is for the purpose of treatment of psycho-sexual disorders or dysfunctions;
(b) That behavior complies with generally accepted professional standards for treating a client’s specific psycho-sexual disorders or dysfunctions.

Violations, Penalties, Injunctions regarding the use of specific psychological terminology and the use of, or display of Professional title(s)
a) must have an active, valid license to call oneself a Psychologist
or “School Psychologist”
b) must be licensed to use “psychology,” “psychological,” or “psychodiagnostic,” or describe any test or report as psychological or use word “psychotherapy” UNLESS licensed or holds another License under this chapter such as a psychiatric nurse, etc.
c) A provisionally licensed person must hold himself out as such and must be displayed in ads, including cards, stationary, etc.
d) must display license (or provisional license) at EACH location where they practice .
g) must use** “licensed psychologist”** in any ads, incl. Yellow Page
