Hypocalcemia

Signs and Symptoms

A
  • Positive Trousseau’s sign – carpopedal spasm with hypoxia
  • Positive Chvostek’s sign – contraction of facial muscles when facial nerve tapped
  • Tetany, Muscle cramps
  • Numbness and tingling fingers and circumoral (around mouth) region
  • Pathological fractures (chronic hypocalcemia)
