Role of Legislative Assembly

A

DETERMINE GOVT: the party in coalition with majority in lower house forms Govt.
REPRESENTATIVE GOVT: elected to represent areas - interests of majority of voters.
RESPONSIBLE GOVT: opportunity to present petitions, raise issues with minsters during Q. time.
SCRUTINISE: legislation debated, ministers questioned during Q. time.
CONTROL SPENDING: only collect taxes or allocate spending of public money when a law is passed by parliament.
