Ch 13 Kinetics Flashcards
Rate of rxn
k[A][B] to some orders in both cases
Only reactants and aqueous or gases
Ln(Rate) =lnk+ln[A]^x
Y= mx + b
Integrated rate law
Used when k and time is used in both. Or initial and other concentration is given or asked for.
[A]=[A]o -kt
Zero order
[A]= [A]o e^-kt
First order
1/[A] = 1/ [A]o + kt
Second order
If first order then slope =
-k
If second order then slope equals
k
Half life
When asked for 1/2 of initial concentration and given k then use half life
Lnk = lnA -(Ea/R)(1/T)
Y = b + m x
Uni molecular
One molecule reacts
Bimolecular
Two molecules react (even if same molecule)
Three molecules react
Termolecular (highly unlikely and at high pressures)
Equilibrium constant at step reactions
k1/k-1 = [C][D]/ [A][B]
If first step isn’t slow then …
U go to previous steps which are fast. solve for their equilibrium k and solve for the intermediate to substitute in for the observed rate at slow step
