Describe the GIs common to all wine regions in France.

A

PDO - AOP Appellation D’origine protégée aka AOC - Appellation d’origine controlée.
Common for one plot of land to be covereed by both a generic and more prestigious appelation - they can choose which to use each year depending on quality of vintage.

PGI - Indication géographique protégée (IGP) - traditional term Vin de Pays

Vin de France for those without a GI.
