Ch 11 Flashcards
Why is it important to assess the behavior-environment interactions of employees?
Physical environment issues must be taken into account and brought to the attention of management for correction before proposing solutions involving contingencies of reinforcement. Poor performance may be due to environments with equipment in need of repair, where it is loud and noisy, or where there are safety issues.
What does it mean to adhere to job commitments?
It means following through with agreements. The behavior analyst adheres to job commitments made to the employing organization.
While the principles of behavior are universal, why is it unethical for a behavior analyst who has training in autism to consult in staff development of autism agencies or in business or government agencies?
The behavior analyst implements or consults on behavior management programs for which the behavior analyst has been adequately prepared. Working in a new domain requires special preparation.
Who is the client when consulting with business and government agencies?
The business or government agency is the client. The term client is applicable to whomever the behavior analyst provides services whether an individual person, parent or guardian of the service recipient, an institutional representative, a public or private agency, a firm, or a corporation.
When working with agencies and there is conflict between the agency and the guidelines, what should you do?
If the demands of an organization with which behavior analysts are affiliated conflict with the guidelines, behavior analysts clarify the nature of the conflict, make known their commitment to the guidelines, and to the extent feasible, seek to resolve the conflict in a way that permits the fullest adherence to the guidelines.
Show the client the guidelines, say she will do her best to work within the guidelines, ask not to make her violate her professional ethics.
