Intrinsic Motivation: Internal factors such as self-determination, curiosity, challenge, and effort.

Goal setting, planning, and self-monitoring are important aspects of achievement. Delayed gratification plays an important role in the ability to reach goals.

They are important for adolescent achievement.
Mentors
Social relationships, peers, parents, teachers, and mentors can be key to achievement.
Obstacles to achievement
Procrastination, perfectionism, being overwhelmed by anxiety and protecting self-worth by avoiding failure.
Unrealistic expectations.

Dividing an overwhelming task into smaller parts.
