Adolescence

Cohort effect
adolescence begins when the majority of the cohort have begun puberty

Primary sexual characteristics

Secondary sexual characteristics
physical changes unrelated to reproduction

Precocious puberty
primary sexual change occurs before age 9 and secondary before age 8

Affects females more than males
Disordered eating
restricted dieting, bingeing, and purging in a less frequent or severe way than a disorder
Eating disorder
psychological disorder characterized by abnormal and disturbed eating habits
Anorexia Nervosa
low weight, obsession about weight, disturbance in body perception, amenorrhea, food restriction
