Weighing
The manufacturer starts off the mass and Balance program
The operators responsibly to weigh the AC but the manufacturer usually does it for its first one
Weighing Process
Must be clean and empty (BEM conditions) with all the required equipment in place and all the extras removed
In a non-air conditioned hanger with the door closed
In an approved weighing station or by the manufacturers
EU Rules
Must be weighed before it enters service (mass and CG) - operators responsibility but manufacturer usually does it
Fleet AC every 9 years
Effect of mod must be accounted for and if not known, must be reweighed
Weighing Process
Load cell at each jacking point or under the gear
Can be placed under the wheels (load cell mat)
Minimum of 3 points of support
In hanger; Door closed, AC off and cleaned
Must be cleaned with everything there that makes up BEM
Moments calculated, BEM and CG position declared on schedule
If BEM equipment changes in the interim, must be recorded in technical log
If change in DOM is more than 0.5% of max landing mass, AC must be reweighed and the CG reestablished
