What are sensory aids?
Supporting devices that appeal to one or more of the five senses and highlight or enhance the content of the presentation
What are visual aids?
Supplemental visible devices that speakers use to clarify the message
When are sensory aids unnecessary or detrimental?
When the message is simple enough to be understood without a supporting device. If it unnecessarily lengthens a presentation, distracts or irritates audience.
What are the two primary reasons for using sensory aids?
To engage the audience and what you have to say. And to ensure the accuracy comprehensiveness and recall of your message
What is a graph?
Pictorial device used to illustrate quantitative relationships
What is a line graph?
Diagram that shows the relationship between two quantitative concepts
What is a fever graph?
Diagram that shows have a numeric value of something changes over time
What is a bar graph?
Displays quantities or values of data in a series of bars that correspond in height or length to the quantities represented
What is a pie graph?
Shows the division of something into component parts percentages or proportions of the whole
What is a chart?
Pictorial representation of the relationship between parts of a group or an object or the sequence of steps in a process
What is a flowchart?
Illustrates the steps of the process with various types of boxes that are connected by arrows
What is a table?
Orderly arrangement of numbers words or symbols in rows and columns
