What is the method for an experiment in osmosis?

A
  1. Cut five potato pieces using the knife, tile and borer.
  2. Even up all chips to the same length.
  3. Place all of the chips onto the filter paper to dry up excess water.
  4. Record the weight of each chip.
  5. Place the chips into boiling tubes of different sucrose solutions (distilled water, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1)
  6. Place a bung onto each of the tubes.

A

To give a fair test so that some dont have more surface area than others because more liquid would have access to the chip

How do you make a cheek cell slide?

A
  1. Get a sterile cotton bud and collect cheek cells.
  2. Swab it on the slide some methylene blue dye on it.
  3. Take a pipette and put a drop of water on the slide and carefully place the cover slip on top using a mounted needle
  4. Dry out any excess liquid causing the cover slip to move using a small piece of paper towel.
