Why is surveying referred to geomatics now?

A

Surveying has changed a lot. Before, surveyors used ground-based methods, but today the use of electronic instruments, satellites survey systems, aerial images and processing systems, advance computer systems, geographical information systems (GIS)
Geomatics is defined as an integrated approach to the measurement, analysis, management, storage, and presentation of the description and locations of spatial data.
