what are the signs and symptoms for mild to moderate dehydration
young children/ infants = thirsty, restless, irritable to touch or drowsy
older children = thirsty, alert but lethargic, postural hypotension (dizzy when stand)
what are the signs and symptoms for minimal dehydration
everything is normal
what are the signs and symptoms for severe dehydration
young children/ infants = drowsy, limp, cold, sweaty, cyanotic extremities, comatose
older children = conscious, apprehensive, cold, sweaty, wrinkled or blue skin of fingers and toes, muscle cramps
what is the heart rate for mild to moderate dehydration
rapid and weak
what is the heart rate for severe dehydration
rapid, feeble, sometimes impalpable
what can occur with a babies skull if they are dehydrated
convex fontanel on top of skull
what BP indicates severe dehydration
systolic less than 90
