How often should 25-49 year olds get their cervix screened?
Every 3 years
How often should 50-64 year olds get their cervix screened?
Every 5 years
What should happen if the cervical screen comes back negative for human papillomavirus?
Normal recall process
What should happen if cervical screen comes back as positive for HPV cells AND abnormal cells?
Colposcopy
What should happen if cervical screen comes back as positive for HPV cells but absence of abnormal cells?
Cervical screening again in 1 year, and again in 2 years if still HPV+.
What happens if you have HPV+ cervical screening results for 3 consecutive years?
Colposcopy may be required
What happens if inadequate cytology result attained?
Patient will be re-invited for cervical screening test in 3 months time.
If 3 screens come back inadequate, colposcopy referral
If a patient has been treated for cervical dysplasia, what should happen next?
Have another cervical smear 6 months after receiving treatment
