[proprioception] - C3-4
F:
- Scapular upward rotation during arm elevation, upper fibers elevate scapula, middle fibers adduct, lower fibers depress the scapula
- cervical extension (bilateral) and cervical contralateral rotation and ipsilateral lateral flexion (unilateral)

I: medial border of scapula
N: dorsal scapular nerve (C3-C4)

F: tenses the skin of the neck and can move the lower lip and corners of the mouth down

O: 1st rib btw rib and costal cartilage
I: groove on inferior clavicle
N: nerve of subclavius
F: pulls tip of shoulder down, pulls clavicle medially to stabilize SC joint, *respiration
