Cervical Counterstrain Flashcards
Anterior Cervical Tenderpoints
AC1 Posterior edge of the ramus of the mandible. Treatment RA “AC1 rotates away son”
AC2 - AC6 Anteriorlateral tip of the transverse process. Treatment FSARA flexion side bending away and rotation away
AC7 Superior surface of the clavicle at the clavicular attachment of the SCM (sternocleidomastoid) FSTRA flexion side bending towards rotation away “Flex straw into 7 up”
AC8 Medial edge of the clavicle at the sternal attachment of the SCM FSARA flexion side bending away rotation away
AC1 and AC7
Maverick Tenderpoints
Tenderpoints that’s do not resolve when the muscle is shortened AC1 and AC7. Must be lengthened. They don’t follow the general rule of counterstrain.
Posterior Cervical Tenderpoints
PC1 (midline/inion) inferior Nuchal line, just lateral of the inion Treat Flexion “F PC1”
PC1 (lateral/Occiput) Halfway b/w inion & mastoid process Treat ESARA extension side bending away rotate away
PC2 (midline) superior surface of the C2 spinous process Treat ESARA
PC2 (lateral/Occiput) Inf Nuchal line @attachment of semispinalis capitis Treat ESARA
PC3 (midline) Inferolateral aspect of the C2 spinous process FSARA “3 isnt E”
PC3 -PC7 (lateral) Posteriolateral aspect of the corresponding articular process ESARA
PC4-PC7 Inf surface of the Above verebral spinous process ESARA
PC8 (midline) Inf surface of C7 spinous process ESARA
PC1 and PC3 are not ESARA (shortening posterior musculature with these tenderpoint) you are lengtheing
