NOT middle cerebral artery
All cerebral arteries have:
Cortical branches and sub cortical/deep penetrating branches
Medial Cerebral Artery (MCA)
Most associated with strokes that affect sensation/motor intervention to the head, upper limbs and trunk on the contralateral side
Could also affect speech if Broca’s or Wernicke’s area is involved
Supplies the Lateral surface via cortical branches
Supplies the Basal ganglia (putaman and Globus Pallidus via lenticular-striate arteries
Anterior Cerebral Artery (ACA)
Most associated with strokes that affect sensation/motor intervention to the Lower extremities
Supplies medial surface via cortical branches
Supplies the caudate head via recurrent artery of Heubner
Posterior Cerebral Artery (PCA)
Supplies the temporal and occipital part of the brain via Cortical branches
Supplies the Thalamus via deep branches
Anterior Choroidal Artery
Main supplier of the Internal capsule
Lateral Medulla Supply
Vertebral artery and posterior inferior cerebellar artery
Medial Medulla
Vertebral Artery
Lateral Pons
Superior and anterior inferior cerebellar artery
Medial Pons
Basilar Artery
