Cephalosporines Flashcards
1
Q
Cephalosporines, mechanism of action?
A
Cephalosporins disrupt the synthesis of peptodiglycan layer which forms the cell wall of the bacteria. They mimic the peptide that penicillin-binding-protein binds to in the final transpeptidation step (as they bind to the muropeptide in order to cross-link the peptidoglycans)
