Center Pedestal Flashcards
On either side of the center pedestal, there are stab trim indications. there is a green band on each. What is this and how is this green band calculated?
-The green band is the allowable range for take off.
-This is calculated based on the FMC calculated gross weight, CG and take off thrust selection.
- This is then cross checked by a sensor in the nose gear assembly
How many spoilers are there? How many are considered speed breaks for in flight use?
-6 total spoiler panels on each wing
-4 inboard spoilers act as speed breaks (two inboard extend to half travel and two middle extent to full travel)
When will the ground spoilers deploy if in the ARM position?
Apon main landing gear touchdown AND thrust levers 1 and 3 are near the idle position
If you forgot to arm the spoilers would they ever deploy?
Yes. (Back up mode)
-If spoilers were left in the DN position
-Main gear touchdown
-thrust elevers 1 and 3 are near idle
-reverse thrust 2 and 4 are pulled
When would the spoilers move to the DN position after being deployed?
-if thrust levers 1 OR 3 is advanced from idle
-Occurs in normal and backup modes
What spoilers are used to aid in aleron control?
All except the most inboard spoiler on each wing (10 in total)
On the left wing, the position of the ___________ is displayed on the EICAS? What is the function of this panel?
-fourth spoiler panel in from the wingtip.
-This panel functions as a flight spoiler, speedbrake, and ground spoiler
On the right wing, the position of the ________ panel is displayed on the EICAS?
What is the function of this panel?
-outboard-most spoiler
-flight spoiler and ground spoiler only.
What conditions would result in a TAKE OFF CONFIG WARNING to occur
Prelims (all ANDS)
1. aircraft is on the ground
2. fuel control switches are in the RUN position
3. eng 2 or 3 thrust is in take off range
4. airspeed is less than v1
Then (All ORS)
1. Flaps not in take off position
2. body gear not centered
3. parking brake set
4. speed break not in DN
5. stab tril outside of takeoff range
On the ground, what happens when the TOGA switch is pressed?
- below 50 knots and flaps out of up, activates A/T in THR REF mode and advance to reference thrust limit
What happens if you press the TOGA switch after 50KTS?
AT activation is inhibited until 400AGL
After lift off what happens if you press the TOGA switch again?
- Removed takeoff and climb derates and assumed temp thrust reduction
- AT goes to THR REF
- between 50’ and 400’ TOGA roll mode is selected
- above 400’ TOGA roll and pitch modes are selected
On approach with flaps out of up or glideslope captured, and the TOGA switch is pressed once, what happens?
- Roll and pitch TOGA modes activate
- Autothrottles activate in THR mode to establish a min of 2000 FPM
On approach with flaps out of up or glideslope captured, and the TOGA switch is pressed a SECOND TIME, what happens?
Autothrottles activate in THR REF mode and FULL GO AROUND BALLS mode is activated
Stab Trim Cut Off switches have three positions, what are they and what does each position do?
–Controles Hydraulic power to each system(2&3)–
AUTO: allows for automatic hydraulic cutout if an unscheduled trim is detected
CUTOUT: hydraulic power is shut off
ON: Overrides automatic control and supplies hydraulic power
