Cellular Respiration And Fermentation Flashcards
This should help give you information on cell respiration and fermentation.
Aerobic Respiration
Complete oxidation of glucose to CO2 into the Prescence of O2, producing ATP it’s also the reverse photosynthesis.
Oxidation
Electrons are removed from an atom. During aerobic respiration, the atoms in glucose are oxidizes, and their electrons are transferred to high energy electron carriers.
Reduction
Electrons are added to an atom. During aerobatic cellular respiration, electrons originating in glucose are use to reduce 02 which then bonds hydrogen to form water.
Glycolysis
Ametabolic pathway occurring in the cytosol.
Krebs Cycle
Stage in cellular respiration that completely oxidizes the products of glycolysis.
Intermembrane Compartment
The space between a mitochondria’s two membrane.
Crista
Fold of the inner mitochondrial membrane
along which many of the reactions of cellular respirations occur.
Matrix
The inner comparing of the mitochondrion.
Substrate- Level Phosphorylation
ATP forming occurring when an enzyme transfer a
phosphorate group from a high energy donor molecule to ADP.
Acetyl CoA
Molecule that enters the Kreb cycle in cellular respiration product of partial oxidation.
Chemiosmotic Phosphorating
Reactions that produce ATP using ATP synthesize and potential energy of a proton gradient.
Anaerobic Respiration
Cellular respiration using an electron acceptor other than O2.
