cellular basis of immune response Flashcards
IL-1
B cell—promotes B cell development and Bone marrow maturation
Liver—induces synthesis of acute phase reactant proteins
Hypothalamus—induction of fever
Macrophage and neutrophil activation— ↑expression of ICAM
TH cells—IL-1 produced by APCs stimulates TH cells activation and proliferation
Induces IL-2 receptor expression on TH cells
Induces ↑MHC-II expression on APCs
Promotes IL2 secretion by TH cells
IL-2
induces proliferation of activated TH cells, TC cells and some NK cells
IL-4
TH cells—promotes TH 2 cell activity and inhibits TH 1 cell
* B cell—promotes B cells activation and proliferation and induces B cell class
* Macrophage and APCs—induce ↑MHC-II expression
IL5
Promotes eosinophil growth and differentiation
IL-6
IL-1 and TNF like effects (synergistic effect)
* Promotes B cell proliferation and antibody production
IL-10
Reduces cytokine production by TH 1 cell
IL-12
Promote TH 1 cell induction and inhibit TH 2 activity
Promotes CMI responses NK cell stimulatory factor
INTERFERONα-
Antiviral activity
INTERFERONβ-
Antiviral activity
INTERFERONγ-
- Macrophage—activates the resting macrophages into activated macrophage * B cells—activate B cells to produce IgG * Promotes inflammation of delayed type of hypersensitivity (along with TNF-β)
- TH2 cell—inhibits TH 2 cell proliferation
TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR-α
- IL-1 like effect
- Tumor cells—promote vascular thrombosis and
tumor necrosis - Inflammatory cells—induce cytokine secretion * Induces lipolysis, causes extensive weight loss
associated with chronic inflammation
TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR-β
Tumor cells—similar effect like TNF-α
- Macrophage—enhance phagocytic activity
