Cells Year 7 Flashcards
What does MRS GREN stand for?
M- movement R- respiration S- sensitivity G- growth R- reproduction E- excretion N- nutrition.
What do plant and animal cells both have in common?
They both have a nucleus, mitochondria, cell membrane and cytoplasm.
What does a plant cell have that an animal cell doesn’t?
Cell wall, chloroplasts and a vacuole.
What does Unicellular mean?
Made up of one cell.
What does Multicellular mean?
Made up of multiple cells.
What does a Nucleus do?
It controls what the cell does.
What is Cytoplasm?
It is jelly like and it is where most of the chemical reactions happen.
What is the Cell Membrane?
This is a thin skin around the cell, it holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
What is Mitochondria?
These are tiny structures inside the cell where most of the reactions for aerobic respirations take place. Respiration releases energy from the sun.
Whats inside the vacuole?
The vacuole is filled with cell sap, a week solution of sugar and salts.
What is a cell wall?
It is a rigid outer coating made of cellulose, it gives support to the cell.
What is inside chloroplasts?
Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll used for photosynthesis.
What is another word for a living thing?
An organism
What are organisms made of?
Cells.
What do you use to view cells?
A microscope.
