Cells:Animal and Plant cells Flashcards
What is in the animal cell?
Nucleus , cytoplasm , mitochondria and the cell membrane.
What is in the plant cells as well as all the structures in animal cells?
Vacuole , chloroplasts and cell wall.
What does the nucleus do?
Contains genetic material (DNA) and controls the cells activity.
What does the cell membrane do?
It is partially permeable, and it controls what enters and exits the cell.
What does the cytoplasm do?
It is a jelly-like fluid, where the chemical reactions take place.
What does the mitochondria do?
- Where aerobic respiration takes place.
- Produces energy
- Powerhouse of the cell
What does the cell wall do?
Contains cellulose to provide strength and structure to the cell.
What does the vacuole do?
It is used to store substances and helps the cell to keep its shape.
What do the chloroplasts do?
Contains chlorophyll, conductys photosynthesis and also carries out amino acid synthesis.
