how do you prepare a specimen for viewing using a microscope
A
- Take a thin slice of your specimen
- Take a clean slide and put a drop of water in the middle
- Then use tweezers to place youre specimen in the droplet water on the slide
- Add a stain to your specimen making it easier to see
- Carefully lower a cover slip onto the slide using a mounted needle. Try not to trap any air bubbles

how do you view a specimen
A
- clip the slide onto the stage
- select the objective lens with the lowest power
- use a course adjustment knob to move the stage up to just underneath the lens
- look down the eye piece and move the stage down until nearly in focus
- move the finest adjustment knob until you get a clear image
- if you want to make the image bigger use a high power lens

how do you draw a scientific drawing of a specimen
A
- Use a sharp pencil, draw clear outlines of main features
- Label the main features and make sure lines dont cross over each other
- dont do any colouring or shading
- The drawing should take up half the page
- Include a title, the magnification used and the scale
