Cells Flashcards
What is the importance of the nucleus?
Controls the activities of the cell and holds genetic material.
What is the importance of the cytoplasm?
Chemical reactions are controlled and happen here.
What is the importance of the cell membrane?
It controls what goes in and out of the cell.
What is the importance of the mitochondria?
Respiration takes place here
What is the importance of the ribosomes?
They are where proteins are made in the cell.
What are the five things that both an animal and plant cell have?
- Nucleus
- Cytoplasm
- Cell Membrane
- Mitochondria
- Ribosomes
What are the three things that a plant cell has but a animal cell doesn’t?
- Cell wall
- Vacuole
- Chloroplasts
What is the importance of the cell wall?
It supports the cell and strengthens it
What is the importance of the vacuole?
It contains cell sap (sugar and salts)
What is the importance of the chloroplasts?
They’re were photosynthesis occurs and they contain a substance called chlorophyll
What four things make up a yeast cell?
- Cell wall
- Nucleus
- Cell Membrane
- Cytoplasm
What is the key difference between a yeast and bacterial cell?
The bacterial cell has no nucleus, the genetic material just floats in the cytoplasm.
