Cells Flashcards
Define cell
Cell is the building blocks of all living things
State 4 similarities about the plant and animal cells
They both have a nucleus and a cell membrane, cytoplasm, and mitochondria.
What the nucleus?
The nucleus is the brains of the cell. Controlling the activities and process of the cell
What does the nucleus contain?
The nucleus contains thread like structures called chromosome
What are chromosome?
A thread-like structure of nucleic acid and protein found in the nucleus.
How many chromosomes does a male have?
A male have 22 Pais of chromosome
Genes
Genes are dark band inside the chromosome
What the purpose of genes?
Genes give us our various characteristics
What is a cell wall?
Is a freely permimiable wall made of cellulose, that support and protect the cell and give the cells it’s shape.
What is the cytoplasm
A jelly like substances that support the organelles.
Tissue
A group of similar cell working to carry out the same function.
Eg.blood, muscle tissue.
Organ
A group of different tissue working together to carry out one function
System
A group of different organs and tissue working together to carry out one function.
Ribosome
Help the cell with protein synthesis
Diffusion
Movement of particle from a higher concentration to a lower concentration until they are evenly distributed.
Osmosis
Water molecules moving from a higher concentration to a lower concentration through a selective permeable membrane
Active transport
Is the movement of particles from a low to high concentration against a concentration gradient.
Photosynthesis
The process by which plant make their food.
2 condition for photosynthesis
-Chlorophyll
-Sun light
