CELL TYPES AND MODIFICATION Flashcards
WHAT ARE THE FIVE (5) TYPES OF ANIMAL CELL.
SKIN CELL; MUSCLE CELL; FAT CELL; NERVE CELL; BLOOD CELL.
UNDER SKIN CELL
MELANOCYTES
KERATINOCYTES
LANGERHANS CELL
ALSO KNOWN AS “MYOCYTES”
MUSCLE CELL
UNDER MUSCLE CELL
CARDIAC MUSCLE CELL
SKELETAL MUSCLE CELL
SMOOTH MUSCLE CELL
ALSO KNOWN AS “ADIPOCYTES”
WHITE FAT CELLS
BROWN FAT CELLS
BEIGE FAT CELLS
ALSO KNOWN AS THE NEURONS WHICH HELPS THE NERVOUS SYSTEM TO PRPOCESS AND TRANSMIT INFORMATION.
NERVE CELL
ALSO KNOWN AS “HEMATOCYTE”
RED BLOOD CELL (ERYTHROCYTE)
WHITE BLOOD CELL (LEUKOCYTE)
PLATELETS (THROMBOCYTE)
WHAT ARE THE SEVEN (7) TYPES OF PLANT CELL.
MERISTEMATIC CELLS COLLENCHYMA CELLS PARENCHYMA CELLS SCLERENCHYMA CELLS XYLEM AND PHLOEM CELLS EPIDERMAL CELLS
THESE ARE TOTIPOTENT CELLS WHICH UNDERGO CELL DIVISION AND DIFFERENTIATION THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFE
MERISTEMATIC CELLS
IT PROVIDES SUPPORT, STRUCTURE, MECHANICAL STRENGHT, AND FLEXIBILITY TO THE PETIOLE, LEAF VEINS, AND STEM OF YOUNG PLANT, ALLOWING FOR EASY BENDING WITH BREAKAGE.
COLLENCHYMA CELLS
THESE ARE INVOLVED IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS, STORAGES, AND SECRETION.
PARENCHYMA CELLS
COMPOSED OF HARD WOODY CELLS. MATURED SCLERENCHYMA CELLS ARE USUALLY DEAD WHICH MAKES WOODY PLANTS HARD.
SCLERENCHYMA CELLS
IT CARRIES IMPORTANT SUGARS, ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, AND MINERALS AROUND A PLANT.
PHLOEM
IT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING A PLANT HYDRATED (WATER STORAGE).
XYLEM
THEY SERVE AS A PROTECTIVE BARRIER AGAINST MECHANICAL INJURY, WATER LOSS, AND INFECTION.
EPIDERMAL CELLS
