Cell Structure Flashcards
What do Animal cells contain?
Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Mitochondria, Ribosomes
What do Plant cells contain?
Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Vacuole, Chloroplast, Cell wall
What do Fungal cells contain?
Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Vacuole, Cell wall
What do Bacterial cells contain?
Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Cell wall, Ribosomes, Plasmids, Circular chromosome
What’s the function of the Cytoplasm?
Where chemical reactions occur
What’s the function of the Cell membrane?
Controls what molecules can enter and leave the cell
What’s the function of the Nucleus?
Controls cell activities
What’s the function of the Mitochondria?
Where aerobic respiration occurs
What’s the function of the Ribosomes?
Where protein synthesis occurs
What’s the function of the Chloroplast?
Contains chlorophyll, where photosynthesis occurs
What’s the function of the Vacuole?
Contains cell sap to maintain water balance
What’s the function of the Plasmid?
Small circular sections of DNA, that can be passed to other bacteria
What’s the function of the cell wall?
Maintains cell shape, and prevents cell bursting in water
What is the Cell wall made of?
Cellulose in Plant cells, but made of a different carbohydrate in Fungal and Bacterial cells
