Cell structure Flashcards
what is a cell called that has structures inside of them?
sub-cellular structures
what sub-cellular structures are there in an animal cell?
Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria and ribosomes.
what does the nucleus do?
The nucleus controls the activities of the cell and contains the genetic material
where do most of the chemical reactions take place?
Cytoplasm
what does the cell membrane control?
The passage of substances into and out of the cell
where does aerobic respiration take place?
Mitochondria
where are proteins synthesised (made)?
In the ribosomes.
what do plant cells have that animal cells don’t?
Cell wall and a permanent vacuole
what do chloroplasts do?
They absorb light and make food through photosynethesis
what cells are eukaryotic?
plant, animal and fungal cells
name an example of a prokaryotic cell
bacteria cell
