Cell structure Flashcards
What are the sub-cellular structures in the animal cell?
.Nucleus - Controls cells activity
.Cytoplasm - Where most chemical reactions happen
.Cell membrane - Controls what comes in and out of the cell
.mitochondria - Where respiration happens
.ribosome - Where protein synthesis happens
Plant cell have the same sub-cellular structures as animal cells.
What else do they have?
.Cell wall - Protects and strengthens the cell
.Vacuole - Contains cell sap
.Chloroplasts- Where photosynthesis happens
Difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
Prokaryotic cells are:
.Much smaller in size
.Genetic material is not enclosed in a nucleus and there maybe be 1 or more small rings of DNA called plasmid
.Do not contain mitochondria or chloroplasts
