Cell Reproduction Flashcards
Cell Plate
it is the part of metaphase in plant cells when the cell is begnning t separate.
Cytokinesis
the division of a cell into two daughter cells after mitosis or meiosis
Prophase
the first stage, and the chromosomes are visible as paired chromatids and the nuclear envelope dissapears.
Metaphase
the second stage where the chromosomes are attached to the spindle fibers
Anaphase
the third stage which the chromosomes move to the opposite poles of the cell
Telophase
the final stage of mitosis where the chromosomes move to the opposite ends of the cell and two nuclei are formed
Cleavage Furrow
is the indentation of where the cell is splitting and undergoing cytokinesis.
Multipotent Stem cells
Stem cells that can produce cells of multiple differentiated cell types
Totipotent
Bone marrow cells that mature into both red blood cells and white blood cells
pluripotent
Stem cells that can become all the cell types that are found in an implanted embryo
Embryonic
Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst
spindle fibers
subcellular structure that segregates chromosomes
stem cells
cells that can identify and become any living cell
centromere
the point of the chromosome that the spindle fiber attaches to
kinetichore
another term for centromere
