Cell Phys Exam 1 Flashcards
Eukaryote Characteristics
- Nucleus
Prokaryote Characteristics
- No nucleus
What is asymmetry?
- Part of stem cell renewal where the daughter cells from same replication have different fates.
What is methylation?
- Altering of gene expression (shape) by adding a methyl group to cytosine
What are non-muscle cells?
Cells that have actin in their cytoplasm and nucleus.
What is cytosine?
Amino acid part of a DNA gene that receives a methyl group during methylation.
What is a capsid(virion)?
Protective covering of a virus that is removed when inside a host
What is the viral envelope?
Provides protections and host recognition that is squired from host cell during viral replication
What is group translocation?
Part of an active process in crossing into the cell membrane when the substance is chemically changed
What are stem cells?
Cells that develop into the whole organism
What are phospholipids?
Composed of a hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail
What is the stem cell niche?
Micro environment that control stem cell renewal
What is the inner leaflet?
Position of phospholipids on the inside of the cell
What is actin?
Regulation of the physical state of the cytosol
What is the fluid mosaic model?
Movement of the phospholipid bilayer
