Cell Cycle Flashcards
1
Q
What is cell growth regulated by?
A
- Growth factors
- Nutrient supply
- Tempertature
- Presence/absence of inhibitors
2
Q
What are quiescent cells?
A
- Cells that have stopped dividing due to lack of nutrients, growth factors, etc.
- May return to division at a later time point
3
Q
Senescent cells
A
Have stopped dividing due to irreversible DNA damage (Aging) such as hayflick limit. Either self destruct or are eliminated.
4
Q
What are the microtubules that form during M phase?
A
- Kinetochore
- Polar
- Aster
5
Q
What do polar microtubules do?
A
form from one centrosome to the other, around the nuclear envelope
6
Q
What do aster microtubules do?
A
Anchor the centrosomes to their respective ends of the cell during M phase
