Days before Christmas
A
- To celebrate the birth of Jesus (it isn’t his actual birth but they chose this day to mark it)
- Advent takes place 4 Sundays before, and it allows to prepare for Christmas
- Many would fast during advent however most have advent candles or calendars
- Nativity plays are acted out in schools and churches
- Exchange gifts and cards, decorate their houses with nativity scenes and wreaths
- Midnight Mass Communion takes place on Christmas eve

Lent - Easter
A
- MOST IMPORTANT CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL
- Remembers the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
- A period of 40 days remembering how Jesus fasted and prayed in the desert
- he resisted the devils temptations
- Begins with ash Wednesday; special services where Christians are marked with black ashes in the shape of a cross on their foreheads
- Many fast, most just give something up
- Shrove Tuesday; use up all the food they will give up

Holy week - Easter
A
- Palm Sunday - Arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem, receive crosses made of palm
- Maundy Thursday - Remember the Last supper, Mass will take place in churches; Jesus washed his disciples feet so a priest would wash the feet of some believers at the congregation
- Good Friday - Remembers Jesus’ death, day pf mourning, services take place, many would fast on this day

- Most important day in the Christian calendar
- It is the day of Jesus’ resurrection
- Visit cemeteries (put flowers over those who passed)
- Attend church services
- Personal Bible readings
- Easter eggs, cards, gifts
