1. Suspected meningococcal septicaemia

IM if IV access unavailable

Special notes
A
Usual dose adult 1g, child 50mg/kg (max 1g)
Ceftriaxone IV musr be made up to 10ml using sterile water and dose administered over 2mins.
IM must be made up to 4ml using 1% lignocaine and dose administered in lateral upper thigh.
