cdiff severity

A

1) mild
- diarrhoea, abdominal cramp

2) moderate
- fever, diarrhoea, nausea, malaise
- abdominal cramp and distension
- leukocytosis
- hypovolaemia

3) severe
- fever, diarrhoea
- diffused abdominal cramp and distension
- WBC > 15x10^3
- SCr > 133 (1.5mg/dL)

4) fulminant (sudden and severe)
- hypotension/shock
- ileus
- megacolon

treatment for initial period of cdiff

A

1) non severe
- first line PO vanco
- alternative PO metronidazole

2) severe
- first line PO vanco

3) fulminant
- first line IV metronidazole + PO vanco
- +/- PR vanco

treatment resolve 10 days max 14 days
