CC6 Flashcards
What is a covalent bond ?
A covalent bond is a strong electrostatic attraction between sharing electrons
How can you bond covalently ?
To bond covalently both of the elements must share the same amount of electrons and end with a full shell, if bonding with more than one element it still must share the same amount of electrons to each individual element
What are the properties o simple covalent bonding ?
Held together very tightly and make up substances with low melting and boiling point
What state are simple covalent compounds at room temperature ?
Due to low melting and boiling points they are often gases or liquids at room temperature
What makes up a covalent bond ?
Both elements in a covalent bond are non-metals
