Age
K - Child Poverty = growing problem due to increased cost of raising a child. *2011/12 27% of children in the UK in poverty, by 2015/16 30% were in poverty. (18% of pensioners.
K - Government is reducing child benefits *State pensions have increased by 9% yet, child benefits for 1st child have lowered by 13%.
Education
K - Children who grew up in poor environments - delayed *Sir Harry Burns found that they are twice as likely to have developmental difficulties or problems communicating.
K - Poorer areas, worse qualifications - Glasgow Gaelic school, 88% of pupils leave with one or more Highers whilst in Drumchapel high school; only 15% do.
Low Pay
K - Many employers illegally pay under minimum wage. For example* Tesco who were forced to pay over £5 million as they underpaid employees.
K - The parental situation impacts the income of households drastically. *Over 40% of single parents in poverty whilst 22% of couples are.
Gender
K - Most companies pay the avarage male employee more that the avarage female employee. * Ryanair which pays men over 70% more than women.
K - The wage gap is being closed. *Equal pay act of 1970. In 2019 93% of businesses took action to close the pay gap.
