Catullus 46 Flashcards
Iam ver egelidos refert tepores, iam caeli furor aequinoctialis
iucundis Zephyri silescit aureis. Linquantur Phrygii, Catulle, campi nicaeaeque ager uber aestuosae: ad claras asiae volemus urbes.
Now spring brings back tepid warmths, now the madness of the equinoctial sky grows silent with delightful breezes of the west wind. Catullus, let the Phrygian fields be left and the rich fields of very hot Nicaea be left: Let us fly to the bright cities of Asia.
Iam mens praetrepidans avet vagari, iam laeti studio pedes vigescunt. O dulces comitum valete coetus, longe quos simul a domo profectos diversae varie viae reportant.
Now an eager mind desires to wander, now the happy feet grow alive with eagerness. Goodbye sweet companies of comrades, whom having set out from home far away, different paths bring back in different ways.
