Q

Paene insularum, Sirmio, Insularumque ocelle, quascumque in liquentibus stagnis marique vasto fert uterque Neptunus, quam te libenter quamque laetus inviso, vix mi ipse credens Thyniam atque Bithynos liquisse campos et videre te in tuto.

A

Sirmio, little eye of almost-islands and islands, whichever each Neptune carries in still waters and the vast sea, how gladly and how happily I see you, I myself scarcely believing that I have gone away from Thynia and Bithynia and that I see you grow in safety.

Q

O quid solutis est beatius curis, cum mens onus reponit, ac peregrino labore fessi venimus larem ad nostrum, desideratoque acquiescimus lecto?

A

Oh what is more blessed than cares having been released, when the mind puts down the burden, and me, tired from foreign work came to our household god, and we relax on our desired bed?

Q

Hoc est quod unum est pro laboribus tantis. Salve, o venusta Sirmio, atque ero gaude gaudente; vosque, o Lydiae lacus undae, ridete quidquid est domi cachinnorum.

A

This is what alone is worth such great labors. Greetings, oh charming Sirmio, rejoice with the master rejoicing and you Lake of bright wave, laugh at whatever there is of laughter at home.
