Aorta aneurysm Symptoms?
dilation of the artery to more than 1.5 times its original size
abdominal pulsations, abdominal pain and back pain, pain/numbness in
the lower limbs (nerve root compression), hoarse voice (dilation stretching
the left recurrent laryngeal nerve), No symptoms
Most common site for aneurysmal changes
Aorta
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Compression of the spinal cord and exiting nerves
Due to stenotic (narrow) vertebral foramen in one or several lumbar
vertebrae
Can be treated surgically sometimes via decompressive laminectomy
What is an appendicitis indication?
Right sided psoas sign (lower abdominal pain from hip flexion)
*b/c as the iliopsoas contracts, it meets the inflamed appendix, producing
pain.
Psoas Sign
Lower abdominal pain from flexion of the thigh at the hip. Indicates
irritation to the iliopsoas group of muscle
Femoral nerve origin?
L2-4
How does body protect itself from abdominal herniating?
Ant/post abdominal walls contract to clamp down on inguinal canal
