What is a Persian Cat?
Has long hair and is sturdy. Has a good disposition
What is an Exotic Cat?
A mix of Persians, American and British Shorthair, Burmese and Russian Blue cats. Has a good temperament
What is an Abyssinian Cat?
Came from Egypt but lived mainly in Ethiopia. Like people but aren’t good lap cats
What is a Birman Cat?
The sacred cat of Burma
What is an oriental Cat?
A lot like Siamese but have different coats
What is the Vestibular Apparatus?
A series of components in the ear that help with balance and orientation. Cats are highly developed
What is the Masseter Muscle?
An important muscle for cats to eat
What is the Temporalis Muscle?
An important muscle for cats to eat
What is Taurine Deficiency? How do cats get it?
Cats don’t have enough Taurine in their diet because they aren’t eating enough meat
What does Taurine Deficiency do?
Causes Dilated Cardiomyopathy which makes blood pool in the heart and makes the tapetum lucidum too reflective which eventually cause blindness
What is hyperthyroidism?
The thyroid produces too much T4, is usually accompanied by tumors on the thyroid
What is T4?
The hormone the thyroid produces, it effects almost all cell types. It is a part of metabolism and modulates calcium homeostasis
How does hyperthyroidism effect the heart?
The heart is surrounded by too many muscles, which increases blood pressure, decreases the amount of blood the heart can pump and uses a lot of energy
