Why do we need specific training for Cat 1?

A

MLIT has decided in a circular that pilots and companies engaged in Air Transport operations must conduct training for Cat 1 operations.

Other operators may use state minima.

  3. Suitable failure annunciators for each pilot (GS/LOC Flags + ECAM for Receiver fail)

  5. DME x 1
  6. ADF x 1 (not required in Japan)
  7. Flight Director or Autopilot

  2. RA should not be used in place of baro altimeter
  3. PIC must be qualified CAT 1 capt and FO must have received training
  4. When RVR / CMV is below 1200m max cross wind is 15 kt
