This castle featured a round design where the courtyard was on the inside of the walls, The walls were very thick, and it allowed for defenders to shoot over each other’s heads. Defeat only came from trickery or siege. This castle lasted from 1200 A.D. to 1600 A.D.

Stone Keep

The Stone Keep was made when lords figured out that motte & bailey castles were to easy to burn. For many years lords spent time on building large keeps with thick stone walls. Defeat came only from starvation.This castle lasted from 800 A.D. to 1100 A.D.

A pioneer fort with, an enclosed courtyard and a keep on a motte or an artificial hill. It lasted from 600 A.D. to 700 A.D.

Palace Castle

Since armies added gunpowder to their weapons arsenal, older castles did not stand a chance. So kings moved into grand palaces with little defence, just to show wealth. It lasted from 1100 A.D. to 1400 A.D.
