Q

What have been the long term causes of the landslide?

A

-Deforestation- 60% of Forest lost
-Illegal building- land ownership problems between government and people
-Root structure is no longer there so the soil becomes unconsolidated and rainfall washes it away
-Freetown has increased in population by 10x since 1960 meaning more people have moved to the hills, loading the land
