Montserrat
19 people died 25th June 1997 1000°c 500mph Ash Gasses Pyroclastic flows
Description
Violent and viscous volcanoes are formed at Montserrat by the oceanic plate (Atlantic) and the continental plate (Caribbean) moving towards each other. This causes the Atlantic plate going underneath and into the mantle. This causes magma to be made, this magma reaches the volcano to erupt and spill explosive, life-ending lava.
The Volcano eruption
A volcano called Soufriere hills, situated on Montserrat in the Caribbean. Sits on the meet of a destructive plate boundary (Caribbean and Atlantic).
Haiti
Haiti is a developing country because unlike popular countries such as the UK or USA, Haiti has poor medical services and health departments. Haiti also has poor internet but this is not a surprise since of the facilities they have.
How did the earthquake occur?
The earthquake in Haiti occurred since two plates are sliding past each other and causing them to catch each other with friction. Another reason would be the epicentre is right above the South American plate.
