Case Based - Type of Stroke Flashcards
Pt. is showing weakness and sensory loss on contraleisonal side ( UE>LE). Doesn’t show signs of aphasia or apraxia. Has memory issues. Difficulty with auditory and visual processing. What is the Stroke, side, and lobe affected?
RIGHT MCA, inferior temporal lobe
Pt. is 3+ on mAs, 3+ DTR. They are showing favor in synergies the RUE and have difficulty forming sentences. They aren’t able to coordinate movements ( apraxia) and can’t see the floor below them ( inferior quadrianopia). They are impulsive ( dom) too
What is the Stroke, side, and lobe affected?
Left MCA, superior division
PT. not see the sky above them ( HH, superior quadrianopia) and has weakness in the L extremity. This type of stroke causes this impairment?
R MCA, inferior temporal lobe
Which lobe is impaired if there is sensory ataxia ( loss of proprioception) and AL/ ML tracts are knocked out?
parietal lobe
part of superior branch
Pt. doesnt understand what is being said.
Has memory issues and cant see the sky ( superior quadrinopia)
what division and what lobe?
Branch: Inferior
Lobe: temporal ( wernickes)
Pt. has resting clonus, weakness, and parkonism like movement patterns. Hard time starting a mvmt. What division of mca stroke is this?
Lacunar ( basal ganglia)
R MCA - superior division
librarian motor and sensory deficits
LATERAL FRONTAL
1. L sided weakness
2. DOES NOT have aphasia.
3. Cant see the shelves that are below eye level ( inferior quadrinopia)
LATERAL PARIETAL
Bumps into the shelves ( peripersonal) and doesn’t see far away objects(extrapersonal) = visuospatial impairments
SO NOT a good candidate for mirror therapy
R MCA - stem division for a librarian deficits
BG :
not able to initiate mvmts / smaller mvmts
3/5 MMT for UE
*** intention tremor once moving the books to closer to shelf ( target)
rigidity
R MCA - inferior division for a librarian
what kind of impairments
Inferior temporal lobe -
1. Doesnt remember where she put some books ( memory impacted )
2. cannot see ABOVE eye level ( superior quadrianopia)
