Carto 3 Ststem Flashcards
What is the carto 3 system?
An electro anatomical mapping system that creates real time 3D maps of the inside of a patients heart
It also shows the location of catheters in the hearts chambers
Electro refers to
Hearts electrical activity and signals obtained from the endocardium of each chamber
Electrical signals provide us with important information and tell us as story as we build a map
Anatomical refers to
3D location information used to define the detailed anatomy of complex cardiac geometry
Mapping refers to
The ability to document data collected from a mapping catheter
Electro anatomical mapping is
The recording and cataloging of endocardial electrical data and creating a detailed 3D rendering of cardiac anatomy
All data collected and is stored for the physician to use as a road map for diagnosing and treating arrhythmias
What is fluoroscopy?
Medical image that shows a continuous X-ray image
PIU
Core of carto system
Interfaces catheters and other equipment
Processing unit for implementing all real time location and ECG recordings
Location pad
Sits under patient bed
Generates low amplitude magnetic field to enable accurate location
9 magnetic coils
Power supply
Supplies electrical power
Provides surge protection to PIU
Workstation
Gathers data transmitted from PIU
Creates 3D EAM of the heart during EP studies
DVI cable
Connects secondary monitor to the carto 3 workstation
Allows primary monitor image to display on secondary monitor in real time
USB cable
Powers the DVI cable that connects to the secondary monitor
IOIO2
Connects smartblate generator to the carto 3 system
IC out
Transmits intracardiac signals from PIU to recording system
Patches
Measures the high frequency, low power current emitted from each catheter electrode connected to the system
Determines the initial BCS based on the three back patches and their location relative to each other and the location pad
