Cartesian Coordinates Flashcards
What is a Euclidean plane?
It is a 2D plane that is featureless.
What is a Cartesian plane?
A Euclidean plane that can be described through a coordinate system.
What is a Coordinate system?
It is a system where each point can be represented by how far right they are and how far up they are.
What is a gradient?
It is the slope, or the change in y over the change in x.
What is the formula for the gradient?
change in y / change in x
What is the equation for a straight line?
y = mx + c where m is the gradient and c in the y-intercept.
What is the root of a line of the form y = mx + c?
-c / m
What is the formula for a straight line between points
(A, B) and (a, b)?
y = [(B - b) / (A - a)]x + B - [(B - b) / (A - a)]A
