A
- CTS results from compression of the median nerve as it passes from the forearm into the hand via the carpal tunnel at the breast
- it results in pain, pins and needles, weakness and numbness of the thumb and fingers supplied by the media nerve
- a decrease in the size of the carpal tunnel or an increase in the volume within the tunnel results in compression of the median nerve
- symptoms often worse at night and tend to occur in the dominant hand
